Special swim for 'inspirational' quadruple amputee

by Katherine

Swimmers in Jersey have raised money for a young woman who had her limbs amputated after sepsis shock.

The event at Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club marked Lily McGarry's 24th birthday and swimmers raised more than £500 towards her rehabilitation costs.

Ms McGarry fell ill earlier this year in Wales and is now recovering in hospital after spending months in intensive care.

She was a talented swimmer and is a former junior Team GB triathlete so many in the club know her and her family.
