A supermarket is set to move into an empty unit at a retail park in Wolverhampton.
Frozen food chain Farmfoods has had plans for several months to move into the former Carpetright store on the Mitre Retail Park in Wolverhampton city centre.
An application to change the use of the unit to be able to sell food has now been approved by planners at City of Wolverhampton Council after it was submitted in October last year.
The move would create 20 jobs, according to the application by Savills on behalf of Farmfoods.
"Whilst the site is accessible by public transport, it is anticipated that the option of selling frozen food and drink, subsequently allowing a Farmfoods, or other equivalent occupier, to trade from this unit, does have the potential to generate some additional parking demand above that presented by the former Carpetright use," a council report said.
"That being said, this increase would be limited, and the existing parking provision provided is considered sufficient to cater to this additional demand, even when it is shared amongst the parking demand from the adjacent units."
The carpet store was among several that were forced to close in June last year after Carpetright went into administration.
