My very first concern about kuanhoong’s blog, the Kontera ads. It is absolutely extremely annoying, especially when it appears even on the blog’s description. Also when the link color are not the same as those normal link’s making it stand out among the others with double underline. Unless it really makes good money, there is no reason to keep them at all. Remove it if possible. I prefer more AdSense ad than having Kontera within reading text itself.

It is also not very user friendly to have a bunch of icons following everywhere you scroll within the blog. A few is alright but too many is distracting, especially when there is no way to stop them from following you. Remove unnecessary icons like “get to bottom”, all others that is already available on the top navigation bar. Basically those things are not needed at all. Moving those things to the sidebar and top navigation is ideal.

The theme currently in use are somewhat too “white”. Try experimenting with other themes available, some might be better. About those social networking icons, there is already a “Share This” link just below the post title. Either remove the icons above the comment section or the “Share this” link below the post title. I remember reading it somewhere that only a very small portion of the top 100 blogs have social networking icons on their blog.

When a reader wants to share an article, he will do so even without those icons. A reader who doesn’t wants to share the article will not even you have bunch of giant icons in front of his eyes. Things wouldn’t be right when navigation link changes color after it has been clicked. That should only be used on normal links indicating that the link has been visited and not for the navigation as it will spoil how the site looks.

The search function is also missing from kuanhoong’s blog. It is essential and will help readers to find older posts. It happens that I read an article on one’s blog, and some time later I need to refer it again. Without the search function, it will takes me forever to search for the article.

Sorry if I sounds rude, I believe most people will appreciate reviews of this kind than those praising whatever they see. In that case, one will never improve. Let me know if you like, hate and feel that this review is just a piece of junk. Let me know too if I can have the $100
