$100 for 100 words! - disassociated.
Contests, Websites June 29th, 2007
The very first page I landed on disassociated.com was the $100 for 100 words! contest page. So here’s my first impression of the page — clean white background with some red, nice logo of {<3}, a little hard-to-read font color - too light in my opinion, cool big submit button under the comment section, and lastly, cute red fonts for the search text area (where you type your search term).
disassociated.com is using a very clean theme without any advertisements cluttering all over the place. Its basically focus on plain white, red, and the heart shape. I am not sure if it is a custom made theme, but this is the first time I saw it. Besides, there are no page links provided or any other navigation. It is odd to see no ‘About’ page on any WordPress blog. That’s essential to let your readers know more about you.
The contact link is provided at the very bottom of the sidebar and not easily seen. Making it easy for readers to contact you by placing your contact information in a highly visible place is an important aspect too for a blog. By the way, I saw the big submit button again, at the contact page this time.
Conclusions:
- I did not read any of other post as I am not sure what it is about, without referring to the ‘About’ page
- It’s hard to read on light font color, this made me not reading any further on other post too
- Very good first impression though, as it is very clean and uncluttered
More than enough of 100 words here, I’m going to stop now.

Howdy, thanks for the post/review. I’m not quite sure what you mean with your comment regarding the “about” page though… there is indeed one, and there’s a link to it on the second item down (called “about”) in the RH column. (or go straight to it here: http://www.disassociated.com/about/) Thanks again for your write up.

Hi John, sorry for that, I guess I overlooked that one. Post will be fixed.
